SAN CARLOS,
CALIFORNIA, January 13, 2000 - Less than one month after
announcing the sale of its first ImOn.comTV Instant Internet
Television Station to Los Angeles' based RockWindow Television
Network, ImaginOn, Inc. (NASDAQ: IMON) (www.imaginon.com)
today announced plans to roll out three Instant Internet
Television Packages at the 2000 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nevada,
April 10-13, 2000.
Featuring
from 20 to 200 simultaneous video data streams at Standard
Package prices ranging from $31,000 to $49,000, each ImOn.comTV
package is a turnkey software solution that enables any
website, including broadcaster and content owners sites,
to present interactive television within a standard browser
of any suitably connected computer. The ImOn.comTV's built-in
private labeled Virtual TV Console offers users video-on-demand,
viewer-directed video branching, automated Web searching,
and many additional features customized for each licensee.
Standard Package configurations do not include servers.
Optionally, servers may be included in the packages with
prices ranging from $35,000 to $84,000.
"ImOn.comTV
made its initial debut at the 1999 Fall ISPCON Show in San
Jose, California, where it was greeted with enthusiastic
support," ImaginOn Chief Executive Officer David Schwartz
said today. "Since then, we have refined our product marketing
strategy, creating three basic Instant Internet TV Packages
that are available with and without servers and additional
hosting services. These packages will be introduced at the
2000 NAB Show and demonstrated for the world's broadcast
industry at two booth locations, one in the Las Vegas Convention
Center and the second in the Sands Convention Center."
According
to Schwartz, widespread deployment of ImOn.comTV will change
the entire notion of what "broadcast" is in the high bandwidth
Internet era. "While there are many companies that can stream
video and audio, the ImOn.comTV Instant Internet television
'station in a box' is unique in four critically important
ways. First, ImaginOn's technology links video directly
to Web pages. Secondly, we provide viewer-directed video
branching, whereby a consumer watching a video can interactively
make a decision and, based on that decision, the video will
seamlessly change scenes. If the consumer makes a different
decision, another video option will be played. Thirdly,
ImaginOn's proprietary search engine, WebZinger, is always
running behind the video, providing automatic video-content-sensitive
searches on the subject featured on the TV screen. And finally,
our ImaginAuthor tools enable fast conversion of video footage
to the ImOn.comTV format," Schwartz explained.
The implications
of this technology, Schwartz emphasized, for the entire
television industry are vast and profound. Consumers watching
an ImOn.comTV-enabled broadcast/Webcast will be able to
click-on to any Web site linked to a show they are watching.
These links could be to Web sites on the actors, e-commerce
sites for product purchases, network sites, or anyplace
on the Web. Television advertisers will be able to create
a whole new kind of commercial that directly integrates
the Web into the television spot, involving the viewer in
making a choice, while the commercial is playing, that directly
connects them to specific Web addresses. Product marketers
will be able to measure the effectiveness of their television
advertising in real time because they will be able to see
instantaneously how many people click on a link that is
embedded within the commercial.
"The bottom
line is this," Schwartz asserted. "These ImOn.comTV Station
Packages can put any traditional broadcaster, e-business
or content owner into the Internet television business,
literally overnight. Companies that have libraries of video
content will be able to launch specialized Internet television
stations, using their own video, processed by our ImaginAuthor
authoring tool - the key tool that enables video branching,
content-sensitive search capabilities, and e-commerce linkage
for existing video footage." According to Schwartz, ImOn.comTV
Instant Internet Television Packages are available for fast
delivery. "Depending on the package selected and the amount
of look and feel customization required by the licensee,
we can ship anywhere within six weeks from the date of purchase."
ImaginOn
will exhibit at the 2000 NAB Show in two locations: Booth
L12570 in the Las Vegas Convention Center and Booth M9474
in the Sands Convention Center.
