IMAGINON
OPENS WEBZINGER™ ONLINE TO PUBLIC FOR ImOn.comTV™ ROLL
OUT
Promotional
step toward the 2000 NAB Show gives Web surfers free research
performed by one of ImOn.comTV's most innovative features;
Noted
actress Majel Roddenberry, familiar to science fiction
fans everywhere, debuts as voice of WebZinger!
SAN
CARLOS, CALIFORNIA, January 19, 2000 -- Building momentum
for the April 2000 launch of three ImOn.comTV™ Instant Internet
television packages at the National Association of Broadcasters
Convention in Las Vegas, ImaginOn, Inc. (NASDAQ: IMON) (www.imaginon.com)
today announced that it has made a special version of its
WebZinger Online Research Engine available for free searches
at www.WebZinger.com.
In
addition, ImaginOn Chief Executive Officer David Schwartz
announced that the company has entered into an exclusive
agreement with the noted actress of stage, screen and television,
Majel Roddenberry, to be the voice of WebZinger. Visitors
can now enjoy Roddenberry's voice as part of the user interface
at www.WebZinger.com.
"Our
objective is to create excitement, awareness, and interest
in our ImOn.comTV Instant Internet television station product
in the next three months leading up to the NAB Show," Schwartz
said today. "We will be supplementing this effort
with print advertising in major television broadcast trade
media as well as direct mail and Internet ads. Plus,
we believe there's no better way to attract potential licensees
of ImOn.comTV than by offering them a taste of what the
WebZinger Online Research Engine can do, especially now
that one of the most famous voices in all of science fiction
as part of the experience."
A
noted actress of stage, screen and television, Majel Roddenberry
(www.roddenberry.com) is perhaps best known to the world
as the voice of the Federation Computer in every TV and
film version of Paramount Pictures™ Star Trek (www.startrek.com),
and its successors. Mrs. Roddenberry's late husband,
Gene Roddenberry was the creator of the series, in which
Majel Roddenberry appeared many times -- as Number One in
the pilot for the show, as Nurse Chapel in the original
series, and then as Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek: Next Generation.
She can be heard currently in Star Trek: Voyager.
The
WebZinger Online Research Engine is a key component in ImaginOn's
recently introduced ImOn.comTV product. The launch
of WebZinger Online is intended to demonstrate to Internet
users a key component of ImOn.comTV, without requiring a
high bandwidth connection or a high performance computer.
WebZinger Online is the world's first and only online research
engine, fully automated and hands-free. Users simply
type in the subject they need researched, and WebZinger
does the rest. It locates Web sites by topic, visits
and analyzes each site, downloads graphics and text from
qualified sites, and then formats it all into a clear, easy
to read, printable report. At the user's option, WebZinger
research reports also include links to video and audio.
WebZinger reports are fully hyperlinked, enabling users
to click through instantly to the source website.
According
to Schwartz, the promotional version of the WebZinger Online
Research Engine at www.WebZinger.com is not the complete
version offered to licensees, such as the WebZinger Engine
that runs behind the television content on an ImOn.comTV
powered Internet TV station, or the WebZinger School Edition
offered to educational institutions. To meet the requirements
of the largest number of possible visitors to the site during
the NAB promotion, ImaginOn has reduced the feature set
of WebZinger Online. The number of sites in any research
report is fixed at five. Web site image sizes are
restricted. Video links and "deep mining" of Web servers
are not available. The age-appropriate content filter
can not be turned off. "And yet, even with these limitations,"
Schwartz emphasized, "we believe this version of WebZinger
Online is still the best and most flexible research engine
available online today."
