IMAGINON
ANNOUNCES STREAMING AGREEMENT WITH INTEL® INTERNET MEDIA
SERVICES
Intel
Internet Media Services will provide ImaginOn's ImOn.comTV™
Internet Television Network customers with the highest
quality streaming media.
SAN CARLOS,
CALIFORNIA, May 11, 2000 - ImaginOn, Inc. (NASDAQ: IMON)
(www.imaginon.com) today announced that it will use Intel®
Internet Media Services to provide its ImOn.comTVTM
Internet Television Network customers with reliable worldwide
distribution of interactive digital video streams. Intel
Internet Media Services will supply high quality, reliable
service for ImaginOn's broadband Internet television viewers.
"Interactive
television will become one of the major applications of
the broadband Internet era," said Mike Witteman, director
of service technology, Intel Internet Media Services.
"The success of this application will depend in large
part on high performance media distribution and that's
what Intel Internet Media Services will deliver to customers."
According
to ImaginOn Chief Executive Officer David Schwartz, ImaginOn
received a very strong response to the ImOn.comTV Internet
"television station in a box" solution and to the idea of
the ImOn.comTV Internet Television Network at both the Spring
Internet World and National Association of Broadcasters
Conferences. "As a result, we foresee the rapid allocation
of our initial 59 interactive Internet television network
channels. In order to ensure that our channel clients receive
the highest quality of reliable and scaleable streaming
media on a global basis, we selected Intel Internet Media
Services," Schwartz explained.
Part
of the complete ImOn.comTV Internet television solution
that is now available to content owners of all types,
the ImOn.comTV Internet Television Network is comprised
of 59 ImaginOn owned and operated interactive Internet
television channels, in the range of www.Channel1TV.com
through www.Channel61TV.com. These channels are available
to independent content owners who prefer their ImOn.comTV
Internet television stations to be hosted within a network
structure similar to traditional television. The ImOn.comTV
Internet Television Network is comprised of seven categories:
Education, E-commerce, Sports/Recreational, Travel, Entertainment,
Telemedicine, and Special Interest.
"Many
ImOn.comTV customers are fully prepared to launch and
maintain their own Internet television stations," today
explained Schwartz. "Such is the case with RockWindow
Television Network. Other customers, however, have told
us that they prefer operating their Internet television
station within the structure of a traditional television
network that their viewers can readily relate to."
"The
ImOn.comTV Internet Television Network is designed, as
part of our hosting services, to offer clients a familiar
structure, which includes features like a channel list
and the ability to 'flip' from one channel to the next.
The TV network also offers features that are unique to
ImOn.comTV, such as a built-in content-sensitive search
function, one-click random access to all of the channels
on the network, as well as a common look and feel among
the channels. In short, our TV network creates a synergy
that does not exist among unrelated conventional Web sites
with video content."
