IMAGINON
TO PRODUCE VIRTUAL CONFERENCE FOR THE CARMEL GROUP'S "CONVERGENCE
2000" EVENT
Empowered by ImaginOn's ImOn.comTV™
interactive Internet "television station in a box,"
The Carmel Group will record, edit, and post
a Web based interactive version of its industry-leading
conference.
SAN CARLOS, CALIFORNIA, September 18, 2000 -- ImaginOn,
Inc.'s (NASDAQ: IMON) (www.imaginon.com) ImOn.comTV™ interactive
Internet "television station in a box" will empower The Carmel
Group next month when the leading research and conference
producer utilizes the power of ImOn.comTV to produce its very
first virtual conference in conjunction with its "Convergence
2000: The Five Burning Questions" technology forum.
The three-year
old conference, which is being held October 2-3, 2000 at
the Westin Hotel in Santa Clara, California, will feature
keynote presentations by Jim Olson, President & CEO of Skystream
Networks, Mitchell Kertzman, President & CEO of Liberate,
Claude Leglise, Vice President & General Manager, Home Products
Group, Intel, and Dr. Abe Peled, President & CEO of NDS.
The event, which attracts attendees from virtually all areas
of technology, will discuss issues involving multimedia,
Webcasting and caching, broadband, satellite communications,
digital broadcast, telephony, interactive and enhanced TV,
as well as Internet appliances.
According
to ImaginOn Vice President Abe Matar, ImaginOn has been
selected by The Carmel Group to record up to nine hours
of the seminars and keynote speaker presentations. The content
will then be post-produced with ImaginOn's ImaginAuthor™
authoring tool to incorporate viewer directed video branching,
content-sensitive searching, and Web link features. The
finished interactive virtual conference will then be posted
at www.Channel8tv.com. For low bandwidth connected parties,
pre-recorded copies of a hybrid Web/ interactive CD will
be available for sale from the Web site.
"It would
be very difficult to produce a seminar on emerging technologies
and not have it showcased with one of the biggest emerging
technologies available today -- Web based interactive television,"
said Natalie McChesney, Conference Director, of The Carmel
Group. We believe that interactive Internet television will
play a major role in the future of our conference management
program and ImOn.comTV provides us with a creative and cost-effective
way to offer it to a worldwide audience that cannot attend
all of our seminars."
According
to ImaginOn's Matar, "ImOn.comTV makes the next revolution
in conference management a practical, cost-effective reality
today. The world’s first interactive "television station
in a box," ImOn.comTV provides an ideal way for conference
organizers to create a series of virtual conferences that
reach a global audience of viewers. We are proud to be associated
with The Carmel Group and this industry-leading seminar.
A seminar that is directly focused on the companies and
technologies that will lead the convergence of the millennium
is the ideal seminar for ImOn.comTV."
