IMAGINON OFFERS FREE INTERACTIVE STREAMING VIDEO AUTHORING TOOL AT ITS
WEB SITE
Free availability of ImaginAuthor™ Lite for Windows® expected to speed
up development of interactive television, entertainment
and information products;
ImaginAuthor Lite
can be upgraded to pro version for creating Sony PlayStation®2
entertainment titles.
SAN CARLOS, CALIFORNIA, October 16, 2000 -- Moving
to accelerate the development of content for interactive television,
entertainment, and information products, ImaginOn, Inc. (NASDAQ:
IMON) today announced that it is offering a free Windows®
version of its ImaginAuthor™ tool at the company's Web site.
All developers need to do is go to the company's home page
at www.imaginon.com and click on the link named "Revolutionary
Drag and Drop Authoring Tool."
"We are
moving aggressively, proving to the developer community
that our company is absolutely dedicated to increasing the
availability of the next generation of entertainment, training
and e-commerce content," today said ImaginOn Vice President
Abe Matar. "ImaginAuthor Lite is the key tool that enables
producers of video or film content to cross over into the
world of interactive streaming content for the Web, intranets,
digital TV, and then, with an upgrade to the pro version
of ImaginAuthor, Sony PlayStation®2."
Containing
many -- but not all -- of the ImaginAuthor features of the
pro version now being used for development of content for
ImOn.comTV Internet television stations and Sony PlayStation®2,
ImaginAuthor Lite allows Microsoft Windows content developers
to easily and cost-effectively make streaming video highly
interactive. The advanced interactive features allow viewers
to control all of the video branching in real time and hot
link from video to Web pages with a mouse click. ImaginAuthor
Lite gives developers the ability to build content with
these benefits by simply dragging and dropping video clips,
subtitles and Web addresses onto ready-made graphic diagrams.
The free
version of ImaginAuthor comes complete with a tutorial and
two project examples. In addition, the tool can be used
to create prototypes of Sony PlayStation®2 titles. Finished
content can be exported to a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM disk or exported
directly to a Web server for on-line use. The initial release
of ImaginAuthor Lite supports interactive streaming based
on movie clips in the Apple QuickTime™ format, while future
releases will support both Microsoft MediaPlayer® and RealNetworks®
formats.
